CEDAR GIRLS' SECONDARY SCHOOL

INTERNAL EXAMINATION GUIDELINES
Instructions to Pupils

GENERAL MATTERS
1 Report to school in your full uniform for morning flag-raising assembly every examination day.
2 Leave all books, files, bags, etc outside the examination room. No books, notes or memoranda are to be brought into the examination room. All handphones are to be kept in the bags and left outside the examination room.
3 Maintain silence at all times once you enter the examination room.
4 No extra time will be given to latecomer.
5 Sit in rows according to your class register number.
6 Inform the invigilator immediately if
· you are issued a wrong question paper,
· you are issued a question paper that does not contain the exact number of pages or questions specified on the cover page,
· you are not issued the supplementary materials (such as graph paper, map or drawing paper) stated in the question paper.
7 Do not turn over the cover page of the question paper until you are told to do so.
8 Write your name, class and register number on all pages of the answer scripts.
9 Write on both sides of the writing paper unless prohibited by the rubric in the question paper.
10 Write the number of the questions you are attempting in the left margin of the writing paper.
11 Leave two lines between an answer to a question or part of a question unless otherwise instructed in the rubric.
12 Write legibly.
13 Read questions carefully. No marks will be awarded for information not asked for in the questions.
14 Practise good time management. You should not spend too much time on a few questions, leaving no time for the others.
15 Stop writing when told to do so by the invigilator.
16 Arrange answer scripts in the numerical sequence of the questions, with the smallest number on top.

17 Tie / Staple the answer scripts, together with the cover page provided (if any) at the top left-hand corner.
18 Be seated at your respective desk while the answer scripts are being collected. Make sure all pages are handed up. Late papers will not be accepted.
19 Absentees - If you are sick on the day of the exam, ensure that you see a doctor registered with the Singapore Medical Council and submit the medical certificate to the form teacher the following day.
Writing Instruments
1 Use blue ink or black ink in writing your answers but black ink is preferred. Pens / pencils of other colours may be used for maps and diagrams only.
2 Bring your own writing and mathematical instruments such as protractors and rulers, as these will not be supplied.
3 No correction fluid / tape is to be used. You are to cancel out your mistakes neatly.
4 All stationery to be put in a transparent case.
Multiple-Choice Answer Sheets
1 Make use of the computerised Multiple-Choice Answer Sheet Form to write your answers.
2 Enter your name, shade the class and register number correctly using a soft-lead pencil (e.g. 2B).
3 Shade your answers using a soft-lead pencil.
4 Use a soft eraser if you wish to change the answers.
Electronic Calculators
1 Use of calculators is allowed in the following subjects unless otherwise stated:
· Mathematics Subjects
· Science Subjects
· Geography Subjects
Use of Dictionaries in the Examination
1 Refer to your subject teachers for the approved list of dictionaries.
2 Ensure dictionary brought into the examination room is free from annotations.
Topo Maps for Geography
1 Return topographical maps to invigilator at the end of the examination.
