hello everybody.

THIS IS A VERY IMPORTANT POST SO PLS READ IT CAREFULLY.

today, i shall devote my time for blogging here about the EXAM! haha, ok.

just some reminders to you guys if you didn't really hear the breifing well today.

1) on the exam day itself, there will be NO LESSONS so we can go straight home after we've taken all our paper(s) for the day.

2) for the days where we do not have any exam, lessons will still be conducted as usual.

3) again, on the day of the exam, if we're having 2 papers e.g. English Paper 1 and Paper 2, we will go to the canteen IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE INVIGILATOR DISMISSES US (to leave the classroom). do not go anywhere else (besides the canteen and toilet) and report 20 min before our next paper, which for English Paper 2 is at 11pm.

4) the reporting time for all the days (whether or not there is exam) will always be the same, at around 7.20am.

5) as usual, come to school in FULL UNIFORM, not P.E. attire or other kinds of clothes.

6) timetable for the exam days will be suspended, as everybody knows, so e.g. on Monday where we'll take our Maths paper, there WILL NOT BE ANY P.E.

7) on days where there is CSP or MSP exams, those who are NOT taking the exam will stay at home.

8) pls bring all the necessary stationary like pens, 2B pencils, ruler, eraser, stapler etc. remember, we are NOT ALLOWED to use correction tape/fluid. we just have to cancel neatly.

9) for your pencil cases, pls change it to a transparent/clear ziploc bag. if you cannot find any but you have a transparent one that is blue/pink/other light colours, you can bring that. just take note of this: IT HAS TO BE TRANSPARENT.

10) for those people who have words/Chinese or Tamil characters on your desk, pls try to remove it. (i'm not encouraging you guys to scrape off the layer on the desk either also, but just try to find the best solution... in the first case, you shouldn't have vandalised it!)

11) on any of the exam days, if you happen to be unwell and cannot come to school, pls go and see a doctor and get a Medical Certificate (MC). otherwise, you will be given a '0' for the paper that you missed.

erm, i think that's about it. but if you still have questions to clarify, you can ask around or ask me. :)

also, since we have taken down the notices on the notice boards, you are unable to copy down the topics. (but actually you should have done that long ago...) for those people that haven't copy them down yet, i shall post it here.

Mathematics

Paper 1 - 40 marks, 1 hour, NO CALCULATORS ALLOWED.
Paper 2 - 60 marks, 1 hour 30 mins. Calculators ARE ALLOWED.
Total duration: 2h 30mins

Examination Topics: Chapters 1 - 16 (basically all the chapters found in the textbook)

General Instructions
1) If the degree of accuracy is not specified in the question, and if answer is not exact, the answer should be given to 3 significant figures (sf).
That means we have to show at least 4 sf in our working. Only round off to 3 sf in our final answer.

2) All working must be shown in ink.
Working done in pencil will not be marked except for graphs and constructions.

3) Omission of essential working will result in loss of marks.

Things to bring for the Maths Exam
1. Calculator
2. Long ruler
3. Construction set (protractor, set square, compasses)
4. Sharp pencil
5. Eraser
6. Stapler

*Note: If I'm not wrong, the invigilator will hand out BOTH papers at the start of the exam. However, Paper 1 will be collected after 1 hour so obviously we have to do that paper first. Calculators must be placed on the floor during the first 1 hour of the exam. When we've finished Paper 1 before it is being collected, we ARE ALLOWED TO START ON OUR PAPER 2. On the other hand, we CANNOT use the calculator until Paper 1 is being collected.

Science

Topics tested: 1A txtbk - Chapters 1 - 7, 9, 10 and 15
1B txtbk - Chapters 16, 21, 22 and 23
Duration of paper: 2 hours

Pls bring along your calculator, a 2B pencil, an eraser and other necessary stationary for the exam. (Correction tape/fluid is NOT ALLOWED.

Now, about the CEDAR MUSICAL! :D actually, it looks kinda interesting from the short performance that was put up for us on Wednesday during morning reflections. :) okay, the details are as follows:

Date and Day: 21 November, Friday
Time: 7.30pm
Venue: Paya Lebar Methodist Girls' School, Agape Concert Hall (Lorong Ah Soo)
Price: $15 per ticket (free seating)
Deadline of ordering of tickets: 23 September, Tuesday (Week 3)

Pls try to attend this musical and be supportive of this event. Cedar seldom holds a musical and it's once in many years! plus, there are limited no. of seats and there are many people from outside who want to watch this musical so order your tickets from me asap! come on people, we must be supportive and enthusiastic of such school events right? anyway, this musical does not only consists of the Choir, but also soome people from the Symphonic Band and perhaps other areas of Performing Arts. pls consider and give it a thought cos i think it's going to be worth the time and money. :)
